Naomi C. Rainwater, MS, LMFT

I am so grateful you are here. In this space, I aim to provide mental health support through a strong therapeutic relationship. Here are a few details about me and my practice, so you can decide if Live Oak Therapy, is the best fit for you and your needs.

Who I am:

I love long walks on the beach and watching the sunset. I really do cherish those moments—but, lol.

On a more serious note, I have two adult daughters who are absolutely my “why.” I had my children young and, for the most part, had no direction. Through many trials and tribulations, we have all grown into healthy, resilient, educated, and strong women. Giving birth at 19 years old, I never would have dreamed of having a fulfilling career, let alone owning my own practice that emphasizes mental health support.

As a licensed therapist, I am constantly in awe when someone chooses me to be a part of their healing journey.  It truly is a gift and a testament to the therapeutic relationship we build together.

Beyond my work in therapy, I care deeply about community and human rights. My passion lies in supporting unhoused populations, particularly women and children. I started my career focused on this population and have recently returned to it by serving on the board of Josephine’s Place, a low-barrier women’s shelter.

How I practice therapy:

First and foremost, I believe that having a safe, therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the therapy process. It serves as the foundation for us to engage in the most meaningful work. I approach each client with unconditional positive regard, compassion, curiosity, and an open mind.

While I bring clinical expertise and experience to our sessions, I believe you are the true expert on your own life. My role is to partner with you by offering guidance, insight, and evidence-based interventions all while honoring your unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I am committed to continually learning and growing as a therapist, ensuring that I provide the highest quality mental health support possible.

The treatment modalities I utilize encompass Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), art therapy, somatic approaches, exposure therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through a collaborative blend of these approaches, we will work together to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.
